Our History
Our story began back in 1931 when Clyde Roper and Harold Correll started First Mutual Agency in Spartanburg. In 1960, First Mutual merged with Willis Insurance. Over time, the name was changed to Correll Willis Agency, and the agency quickly gained recognition as an insurance industry leader. In 1970, Charles Smith became a partner in the agency and the name changed once again to Correll Willis Smith. In 1975, the Gault Agency in Gaffney was acquired, and in 1990, the agency was reorganized under the current name Correll Insurance Group. With the opening of new offices and through a large number of acquisitions and mergers across South Carolina, Correll Insurance Group has grown to become the largest, most respected source for car insurance and homeowners insurance in South Carolina.
Our insurance associates are dedicated to their profession, as evidenced by extensive continuing education and by their continual service to local insurance organizations. They are involved in numerous civic organizations in Spartanburg, such as Rotary, Lions, Meals on Wheels, Soup Kitchen, Kiwanis, Relay for Life, family resource centers, and many local churches throughout the community.
